Smart thinking spurs European e-mobility projects


Four smart European projects are driving electro-mobility forward, based on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Demonstrating that CO2 reduction in urban areas and beyond is possible, as well as raising the public's awareness of the benefits of electro-mobility, are key goals of four European electro-mobility projects (MOBI.Europe, ICT4EVEU, MOLECULES and sm@rtCEM) that were launched together on an event at the European Parliament on 8 February 2012.

Only consumer acceptance and the successful adoption of new technologies such as electric vehicles will allow the EU to meet its ambitious target to have no conventionally powered vehicles in cities any more by 2050, and to reduce the transport sector's carbon emissions by 60% by then.~
